
Govindjee in China
Govindjee is Professor Emeritus of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Plant Biology, at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, since August 1, 1999. He is the Series Editor of the Advances in Photosynthesis and Respiration, and the Historical Corner Editor of Photosynthesis Research, an international journal. His current interests are in (a) understanding the precise relationship(s) of chlorophyll a fluorescence with various photosynthetic reactions; (b) spreading the gospel of photosynthesis around the World; photosynthesis education; and (c) history of photosynthesis research. His honors include: Fellow of the American Association of Advancement of Science (since 1976); President of the American Society for Photobiology (1980–1981); Honorary President of the International Conference of Photosynthesis Research (Montreal, 2004); and the first recipient of the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ of the Rebeiz Foundation of Basic Research (2007).
