We all know that protein is an important part of our diet, but did you know that essentially every chemical reaction inside every living organism (you included) works because there is a special protein (called an enzyme) made by the body to run that reaction? Like nearly all biochemical reactions, photosynthesis uses proteins to run its reactions. Each of these proteins is made from the instructions in a particular gene or set of genes in the cell's DNA.
