Venue

Founded in 1621, Gothenburg, Sweden’s second largest city, is a port on the West coast, in the heart of Scandinavia. It is the home of Chalmers University of Technology and Gothenburg University . The climate is mild at the end of July. The Convention Centre is centrally located close to hotels, restaurants and shops. The city has an extensive and reliable public transportation system. A variety of excursions for accompanying persons are planned (see below and Registration Page for more information).

Visa information

IUPAC sponsorship implies that entry visas will be granted to all bona fide chemists provided application is made not less than three months in advance. If a visa is not granted one month before the meeting, the IUPAC Secretariat should be notified without delay by the applicant.

Conference Language

The official language of the Symposium will be English. Simultaneous translation will not be provided.

All delegates and accompanying persons are invited to attend the Reception hosted by the City of Gothenburg and The Region of Västra Götaland. A light meal will be served. Free of charge but must be indicated upon registration to obtain a ticket.

Archipelago Tour and Banquet Dinner on Marstrand Island

Return to Göteborg Convention Centre:  23:00

The boat trip to the picturesque island of Marstrand will start at 16:00 and takes about 2.5 hours. Marstrand is a classical seaside resort with traditions from the 12th century. It is perhaps best known for all the sailing boat races, for example, the World Match racing Championships, held there during the summer. Marstrand harbour nestles under the walls of one of the best preserved stone fortresses in northern Europe — majestic Carlsten Fortress built to protect the Swedes from the Danes in the 17th Century. The guide will walk you up to the fortress (the highest point on the island) to enjoy the fantastic panoramic view of the sea from the top and to enjoy the evenings Dinner. At approx. 22.00 the bus will take you back to Gothenburg.

Opportunity is given to for the delegates to only take part at the Archipelago Tour to Marstrand. This includes the boat trip to Marstrand with bus as return. No dinner included.
